When it comes to concrete pumping, the last thing you need is a plug in the boom. Plugs not only slow down the job, but they can also do irreparable damage to your boom or even your pump’s engine. That is why Fritz-Pak developed our high-viscosity concrete pump primer, Slick-Pak. Slick-Pak evenly coats the inside of your boom pipes to ensure the best possible prime to keep the concrete mix flowing smoothly from start to finish.
Slick-Pak: The Premiere Concrete Pump Primer
Fritz-Pak’s Slick-Pak has been on the market for 30 years and is rated the best on the market. When adding Slick-Pak to a priming port, first mix the product in five gallons of water and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to ensure the highest degree of viscosity. If you’re adding the concrete pump primer to the hopper, add the water-soluble bag to the hopper before adding 10 to 15 gallons of water. Regardless of how you apply Slick-Pak, the first few gallons of pumped concrete may contain excess water, so you should be prepared to dispose of the first gallon of concrete to avoid problems with the final concrete project.
Benefits of Slick-Pak
- No more carrying around bagged cement
- Cheaper than priming grouts
- Increased pumpability for concrete mixes
- Lower horsepower requirements
Why Choose a Concrete Pump Primer?
Choosing to add a concrete pump primer, like Slick-Pak, may seem like an unnecessary step. After all, you could just pump some water through the boom, right? Technically, water can be used as a priming agent, but it is not very effective. Water tends to collect on the bottom half of the pipe, therefore only giving you half a prime. Slick-Pak, however, coats the entire inside of the pipe for an even primer and a much lower risk of plugs. Check out this comparison video to learn more.
