The Slick-Pak line of pump primers and pumping aids, consistently outclasses the competition, offering solutions to a variety of pumping needs. Slick-Pak Liquid is a cost effective primer and for many, the pump primer of choice. Slick-Pak is a primer doubling as an efficient pumping aid. Slick-Pak II, with more water thickeners, is a heavy-duty pumping aid doubling as a primer. In independent laboratory tests on Slick-Pak and Slick-Pak II:
1. Slick-Pak & Slick-Pak II developed higher relative viscosity than other primers tested. In practical terms the products are thick enough to be pushed by the concrete and coat the pipe ahead properly to move your harsh materials through. Thinner material will run down the sides ineffectively with little or no benefit.
2. The initial coating weight of Slick-Pak and Slick-Pak II on 10 ft of 5 inch steel pipe was up to 100 grams thicker. Too thin a coating won’t keep the concrete wet or prevent water and cement paste loss.
3. Tolerance to Concrete: In the hoses primers have to withstand the alkalinity and dissolved salts of concrete without breaking down. Slick-Pak and Slick-Pak II actually gained viscosity in these conditions. None of the competitors did, and all but one actually broke down.
Biodegradable Slick-Pak products will not build up in the pipes and disappear harmlessly into the ground unlike many competitive products.
Slick-Pak is versatile. It can also be used at the job site to reduce slump. While the lubricants give it the slickness water thickeners hold the concrete particles in suspension. These water thickeners provide the viscosity modification used by some operators to reduce slump by a couple of inches. It helps fill small voids and eases finishing.
So try this hard-working product for yourself. Look at the buildings and highways around you. The chances are that Slick-Pak has been a successful part of the construction process.
In new and exciting news: Slick-Pak meets the newly added class of ASTM C-494, Type S, Specific Performance Admixtures. Slick-Pak products are currently undergoing ASTM Lab Testing for formal inclusion.
