Concrete used for precast pieces, or any sort of form work usually requires high strengths and lots of flow. Unfortunately, achieving these two qualities simultaneously is very challenging. Adding more water increases the flow but decreases the strength. You can add additional cement for more strength, but it will destroy the flow of the mix. That’s why adding a water reducing admixture to your truck is so helpful. Products like Supercizer 5 increase the flow by loosening the bond between the water molecules and cement particles in the mix. This allows the water to flow more easily, which means you get an increased flow with the same amount of water and cement. The unchanged water-cement ratio produces the extra strength you need.
