At Fritz-Pak Corporation, one of our core values is safety. Lots of companies talk about safety as an obligation or a cost of doing business, but we tend to think of it as part of our culture. Many people may not realize it, but for several years, we have not used any hazardous materials in our manufacturing. We famously package our admixtures in water-soluble film not only for the convenience and ease of use, but also for the safety of the end user. With that in mind, we wanted to notify you about some changes to our Safety Data Sheets.

The Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200 (HCS) was revised by the Federal government to bring it into alignment with the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The GHS standard is intended to improve the quality and consistency of hazard information in the workplace by incorporating more globally recognized classification criteria. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the OSHA requirements that pertain to your company. To learn more about the impact of this change on your company, visit the OSHA-administered website.

How this affects our products is as follows:

  1. All MSDS are being replaced by SDS – As of June 1st, all MSDS on our website have been updated to the new SDS format. They also include new language and categories that are being mandated by the Federal Government. The new SDS can be found on our website at www.fritzpak.com.
  2. New Hazard Warnings – As of June 1st, all new SDS will now include the appropriate hazard warnings and classifications. The most common for our products will be the ‘Combustible Dust’ warning.

To reiterate, the products and their components have not changed. We are simply changing our format and language of our new Safety Data Sheets to make ourselves compliant with the new Federal standards. We have given much effort and resources to make sure that we meet all the required standards, and it is up to you to make sure that your customers are informed, your products are updated, and that you are also in compliance.
